Book Accommodations Early: There is a lot going on in Scotland during the time before and after the wedding.
The Commonwealth Games 2026 sporting events are in Glasgow July 23 - Aug 2. https://www.glasgow2026.com.
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival Is Aug 7-31. https://www.edfringe.com.
For non-UK citizens, International Travelers from the US: Please note you need a (UK ETA), Electronic Travel Authorization. Each person including minors/babies need an ETA to travel to the UK. You will need to apply online a minimum of 4 days prior to arriving in the UK. You may apply for this travel authorization visa at www.gov.uk. The current cost for 2025 is 16.00 pounds p/p. You may also download an app from your app store to your phone, android or iPhone. The authorization is all done digitally and will be electronically linked to your passport. No paper documents to worry about.
The Wedding Venue: Newhall Estates, Carlops, Scotland is located 30 minutes from Edinburgh. https://www.newhallestate.co.uk/ Hotels, B&B’s and Air B&B’s are located all throughout the area as well as many options between Carlops and Edinburgh.

The property is next door to the wedding venue and has 4 one bedroom cottages (only sleeps 2 adults) for individual rent with a 2-night stay min. The cottages are open now for booking. Book on line.
The Craigie Hotel
This is the property we are recommending if you want to come in for 1 or 2 nights because it is close (8 min drive from venue) and has a restaurant, bar, outdoor areas. (no elevator), close to town and the Pentland Hills National Park. We visited this place in December.
This is a lovely 16 room hotel. We have 6 additional rooms booked at this hotel to be sure our guests have accommodations at a very busy time in this area.
